Real Journeys is pleased to launch its inaugural Cruise-for-a-Cause, a new initiative to help organisations raise funds for a good cause.
Community based not-for-profit/charitable organisations are invited to apply for either the entire Doubtful Sound Overnight Cruise (Saturday 29 August) or Milford Sound Overnight Cruise (Friday 18 September) to use as a fundraiser. 100% of all proceeds raised will go to the selected organisations.
Before the start of each summer season, Real Journeys has traditionally invited guests from not-for-profit community organisations to take part in the final training cruise that takes place at the end of the overnight crews' training.
“Our invited guests have always loved these special cruises and they enabled our crews to have a training “dress rehearsal” with real passengers. But we thought we could do more for those hard-working community organisations by presenting them with a unique fundraising opportunity that they could offer their supportersandenjoy an overnight experience that is a must for every New Zealander,” says Richard Lauder, Real Journeys Chief Executive.
Real Journeys is looking for causes that enhance the lives or activities of its local and regional community particularly in the areas of conservation, education, children/youth services, health or rescue. The selected organisations must be able to promote and sell all their tickets for the Cruise-for-a-Cause at an agreed retail rate. It is estimated that up to $40,000 (based on retail prices) could be raised.
Both the overnight cruises are in the World Heritage Area of Fiordland and include dinner, bed and breakfast and water activities (exploring the fiord close up in a kayak or small boat).
